Progressive Melodic Metal with extreme and
clean female voice!
Biografi
TANTAL was formed in 2004. The musicians
define their style as a mixture of Progressive
and Melodic Death Metal.
Founders of the band are Dmitry Ignatiev
(Everlost, Flash Of Aggression (with U.D.O.
guitarist Andrey Smirnov), ex-Rest In Pain,
ex-Fatal Band), Alexander Bessilin, Michael
Krivuletz and Vyacheslav Gurovoy. In 2005,
talented singer Sofiya Raykova joined the
band.
In the beginning of 2007 the band recorded
promo-cd «Emotional Distress». Music on
this album was a mix of melodic and
aggressive Death Metal with progressive
elements, and there was an excellent female
growl sometimes changed by clean voice.
After that for the personal reasons the
second guitarist Alexander Bessilin left the
band and amazing guitar player Alexander
Strelnikov took the place of the second
guitarist.
In the end of 2008 the first album «The
Beginning Of The End» was recorded! The
music of the debut was an original mixture
of Progressive, Death, Thrash and Modern
Metal, "spiced" with gloomy conceptual
lyrics. One of the best sound control
supervisors, Eugene Vinogradov «Day-
Records», who had worked with loads of
famous Russian bands and German legend
"Crematory" was responsible for sounding
of the CD.
The guests-musicians, who took part in
recording of the album, were:
• Andrew Smirnov (U.D.O., Everlost, Flash Of
Aggression) recorded the solo for the title
track of the album, and also he did some
keyboard arrangements.
• Alexander Dronov (Valkiriya, End Zone)
recoded and arranged most part of the
keyboard parts for the album. He
appreciably enriched and modernized the
band's sounding by that.
• Douglas Verhoeven (In-Quest) became a
special guest. He recorded some solo parts
for the song «Controlled by hate».
The design and all artwork of the CD was
created by the famous Brazilian artist
Gustavo Sazes, who worked with such
giants of the metal stage as Arch Enemy,
Firewind, Nightrage, Cryptopsy, Sonic
Syndicate, God Forbid, Amaranthe and many
others.
On March 30th, 2009 the album «The
Beginning Of The End» was released by the
famous Russian Indie label "Mazzar
Records".
The band gave a lot of performances in
Russia, and also supported foreign bands at
their Moscow gigs: legendary Italian band
"Sadist" and Techno-Death band from
Sweden "Anata".
TANTAL has also released a concert video
clip for the song called "Suicide" which was
rotated at the First Metal Music Television
channel in Russia "1 Rock TV", Ukrainian
Music channel "End of Silence" and famous
Russian alternative music channel "A-One".
In October 2009 guitarists Dmitry Ignatiev
and Alexander Strelnikov became official
representatives of ESP and LTD guitars in
Russia.
In the beginning of the 2010 debut album
got worldwide distribution (UK, Europe, USA,
Canada, Japan, Brazil). At now moment, the
debut album is available worldwide by the
means of on-online store "CD Baby".
In 2011 Alexander Strelnikov became the
official representative of the famous "AMT
Electronics" company, which produces
guitar preamps, cabinets, effects and
accessories.
Also, in 2011 the band started tracking of
the second full-length album called
"Expectancy", but as a result of some
differences of opinion Sofia left the
band...After some abortive attempts to find
the right man (during 2012-2013) the rest
of participants decided to record the album
with a guest vocalist Vlad Lobanov, who
recorded all extreme vocals for the album.
In summer 2013 the band announced their
new female vocalist Milana Solovitskaya, who
did perfect job for "Expectancy".
By the end of 2013 long awaited album
"Expectancy" was finished! During February
and March 2014 it was mixed and mastered
by Igor Korolev at "Kiv Records" (also
worked with Andrey Smirnow (U.D.O.),
Everlost, Flash Of Aggression and many
other bands).
"Expectancy" is the next step in the band's
evolution, opening new dimensions of
musicians' creative work. The material is
more thoughtful compositionally, mature
and various, is at the junction of
Progressive, Death, Gothic and Modern Metal.
Much attention is paid to the clean female
vocal parties and "catching" melodies.
Branded "tricks" - are still remain - superfast,
but at the same expressive guitar solos
performed in the best traditions of Dream
Theater and Yngwie J.Malmsteen.
Lyrical concept: the protagonist' attempt to
find the meaning of life, to find himself, to
sort out their internal conflicts and find
harmony with himself, which leads to
desperation and destruction of all his hopes.
In addition, as a bonus section, the group,
for the first time, presented two songs in
Russian. George Arustamyan, the famous
poet, musician and author of several books
(also worked with Everlost, Hostile Breed,
Dark City, Atmosfear magazines) was
responsible for the lyrics.

In April 2014 the band prolonged the
contract with the "Mazzar Records" label and
released the album in Russia in digipack
format.
